News from Sacramento

July 17, 2017

May 4, 2017 marked the annual ‘Big Day of Giving,’ an on-line giving challenge in Sacramento County (also known by Sacramento locals as ‘BigDOG’).  Coordinated by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation, BigDOG is a 24-hour fundraising event that serves to highlight hundreds of non-profits and the critical services they provide in and around Sacramento.  BigDOG offers participating non-profits an invaluable opportunity to introduce themselves and their work to their local community. This year alone, CLC was one of 599 participating non-profit organizations.  With interest groups ranging from public radio to animal advocates, the competition for donations can be fierce.

Fortunately, BigDOG seems to gain momentum with every event, and 2017 was a record breaking year with $7.2 million raised in total donations.  Even though CLC Sacramento was new to the event, we are proud to report that we raised nearly $1,000 in individual donations!  As we continue to participate and increase the community’s awareness of our important work and the clients we serve, we know that amount will only continue to grow. As one of our staff remarked, “next year we’ll take an even bigger bite out of BigDOG!”

Way to go, Sacramento!
